Last day in the Amazon

11/20/10
(written by Christopher, typed by Mom)
Today we visited an Indian tribe named Bora. This tribe sang songs and danced for us. At the same time we were visiting, the Amazonian Navy was giving them food, milk, haircuts, and vaccinations. While the Navy were there, they played music to the Bora tribe. The Navy's music was like marching band without marching. We headed back to the boat, and I had the best lunch on the boat. Hamburgers, fries, brownies, and pasta. After that, we had a tour in Iquitos. In Iquitos we went to the manatee rescue center. I learned that the closest relative to the manatee is the elephant. These manatees are endangered because people kill them and keep them in captivity. When they are being caught they can't fight back because they are harmless animals.
