11/8/10 [Christopher wrote in journal and then spent time editing and banishing boring words. Mom typed it up.] Today we traveled to North Seymour Island. We saw frigates. The females are obsidian with white, the males are completely charcoal black with a claret pouch to attract females. We also saw blue-footed boobies. Blue-footed boobies don't have blue feet all the time. When they are born they are gray. They start getting blue feet at five months old. After that, we got in the boat for some lunch. I had saffron rice, fish, cheese, vegetables, and a super tasty brownie. After that, we took the boat to the beach, and we searched for flamingos. We didn't locate any. We had about 20 min to play in the water, but most people didn't because there were waves. We headed back to the boat and returned to our hotel. I sat in the hammock and relaxed. |

Nice picture! That's cool that you could get so close to them. I first learned about blue footed boobies while watching National Geographic TV shows in my youth. The name "blue footed boobies" always makes me grin. Thanks for "banishing boring words". ;-)
