| [All portions handwritten by Christopher, typed by parents, and then edited by Christopher] 11/5/2010 At 7:45 we left for South Plaza Island where there are marine iguanas. We get rid of salt by sweating, but they sneeze! The land iguanas eat prickly pear cactus and the marine iguanas eat algae. We had a nice hike seeing birds and marine iguanas. We headed back to the boat for lunch. I had loads of pasta and molasses bread. After that, we were going to go snorkeling, but where we were going to snorkel, there were millions of jellyfish. We boated to a new place. More jellyfish. Boated to a new place. Zero jellyfish. We went snorkeling and our tour guide pulled a shark out of a hole. It was pretty cool! We went back in the boat and found Oreo cookies. We headed back to shore. When we arrived, Mom, Dad and I went to town and got souvenirs. It was a fun day. 11/6/10 Today we went to San Bartolome Island, which has beautiful scenery. The Galapagos Islands were created by a plate underground moving 5cm a year. Every time it moved, it created a volcano which erupted to create an island. The scenery was even more beautiful at the top. You had to climb 360 steps, and walk a lot. After that, we boated in the panga (a small boat) to see some penguins! These are the only penguins in the northern hemisphere! Believe it or not, they're on the equator! This penguin is called the Galapagos penguin. We headed to the boat for some snacks. We had iced tea, banana chips, and empanadas. It tasted good. We headed out to go snorkeling. I didn't go, because the water was going to the rocks pretty fast. My parents had lots of fun! A white-tipped reef shark, more than six feet long dove under my dad. A second later, the tour guide yelled, Shark! Dad swam away. A little later, a sea lion did the same thing. I was having fun in the panga seeing the snorkelers reactions and seeing penguins. Then we headed to lunch, which tasted great. My favorite was the saffron rice. We started boating away. We got back to the hotel and I spotted a giant marine iguana. It was the biggest the tour guide has ever seen in that area. We went to the lobby and relaxed. While I was relaxing the person at the desk gave me a gift from a friend. I got a fanny pack! In England they call them Bum Bags! I thought that was funny. For the rest of the day I relaxed, ate, and slept. 11/7/10 Today we had a "day off" and I did homework. I did homework and watched soccer until 10:00 in the afternoon! We headed to the Las Grietas or the Crevice! In the crevice, there is water from the ocean, and it is clearer. After that we decided to go into town and look at shops but today is Sunday and almost everything is closed. We went to a shop with photos and books, and my parents bought a book! After that we headed back to the hotel. We went to the lobby, and I did more homework. |
