Yesterday was another travel day.  Took a train from Nairobi to Voi (a new Chinese-built high-speed train).  Lots of checkpoints: the luggage was checked by two different dogs, then passed through a scanner (where we received patdowns and passed through scanners of our own), and then passed through another scanner (where we received patdowns and passed through scanners of our own).  No photos allowed of the security area.  And the men and women were segregated into different lines.  Serious security.
The train ride cut the travel time to Voi to about 4 hours.  A lot faster than driving by car.  We met our driver, who took us to the Tsavo East reserve.  We ate lunch and then took our first game-drive through the park, with our guide Aaron identifying the animals.  Elephants (including a playful baby), Masai giraffes, cape buffalo, waterbucks, a dik dik (an antelope the size of a large house-cat - I don't know how Jana spotted it; 4th photo), zebras and countless birds.
We woke early this morning and went for a sunrise game-drive.  Another very successful day.  The big find of the day was a pair of lions that were so close that I had to change out the lens on the camera.  Maybe 15 feet from the car.  The muscle definition on these animals is incredible.
We also spotted some gazelles, oryxes and hippos.  Some of the many, many photos are included below (including extras of the lions).  Christopher has been mastering the skill of taking i-Phone photos and video through the binoculars (like the giraffe photo below).  But in a lot of the cases, the animals are so close that no magnification is necessary.
